Richlite offers a collection of warm and natural-feeling surface materials that bring a comfortable feeling into your home. Richlite’s unique paper surface is made from environmentally sustainable resources and is an attractive, durable, long-lasting material that complements a variety of design tastes. Countertops made of Richlite bring a softer, warmer feel to a room than stone or solid surface.
Richlite first produced natural fiber composites for the aerospace industry in the late 50’s. Since then the material has been used by the marine industry as a boat building material, as a cutting and baking surface in commercial kitchens, and as a ramp material in skateparks. Richlite materials are attractive, versatile, and exceptionally durable.
Richlite is made primarily of paper pulp treated with a phenolic resin, then baked to create a solid sheet. During the production cycle the layers of paper are gradually crossed-linked with each other to create a solid, durable product. Once the curing process is complete, the structure of the product is permanent. The final material is exceptionally strong, yet still maintains a warm and natural look.
Richlite is among the most environmentally sustainable products on the market. The pulp used in Richlite comes from paper purchased from FSC-Certified sources. Richlite also offers two products that contain recycled content: r50 contains 50% old corrugated cardboard (post-consumer waste), and r100 is made with 100% recycled paper (post-consumer waste) and is certified by FSC.
Richlite comes in several colors, and the sheets are available in a variety of lengths and widths. The product is worked like wood, we can shape different edge profiles, and seam together sheets for long countertop runs. Undermount sinks can be used with Richlite, and the material is food safe. Richlite looks great and performs well under the toughest conditions, whether used for industrial or residential purposes.
